Stormwater harvesting

Stormwater harvesting

Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils currently collect and reuse more than 50 million litres of stormwater a year.

This water is used to maintain grounds at Mingara Athletics field and leisure centre, Carrington/Pandala Oval at Narara, Jubilee Park at Long Jetty, Mount Penang Gardens at Kariong, Sir Joseph Banks Oval at Bateau Bay and Blue Tongue Stadium at Gosford.  Plans are also underway to expand the use of stormwater to other sporting fields and school grounds.

Terrigal Stormwater Harvesting Project

Gosford City Council has started building its largest ever stormwater harvesting and re-use scheme in Terrigal. The scheme will reduce demand on the region's drinking water supplies and minimise the impact of stormwater run-off on the region’s local waterways.

Close to 50 million litres of drinking water will be saved each year by providing harvested stormwater to irrigate The Haven Oval, Terrigal. The Terrigal Bowling Club and Crowne Plaza will also be purchasing and using treated stormwater from the scheme for numerous non-drinking water purposes.
